There's Always Room for Chocolate

What better way to start our food adventure than stopping in to Chocolate Room on Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn for some sweet treats?

We left our apartment on Sunday Funday with the intent of walking to Red Mango for some frozen yogurt. Along the way we strolled around Prospect Park and eventually wound up, once again, in Park Slope drooling over all the restaurants, shops and beautiful homes...promising ourselves "We'll eat here for sure-next weekend" The only problem? We said that about every restaurant we passed... That would basically require us to fast all week just to be able to binge on all our picks over the weekend.

While strolling, we happened upon "Blue Apron" an incredibly adorable hole in the wall selling the best assortment of chocolates, cheeses, jams and the cutest individual serving packets of Nutella I have ever seen. Our consensus upon exiting? "Blue Apron" is by far the best place to head to when you're planning to load up a picnic basket. When the weather warms and the trees start blooming we'll definitely be sampling some delectable snacks from "Blue Apron" on a blanket in the park.

So after some more strolling and a bit more window shopping..we decided we would stop for some coffee and a little snack. The name alone, "Chocolate Room" is more than enough reason to believe we were headed to the right spot. At our little table for two, I decided to sip on a Caffe Torino-dark hot chocolate with a shot of espresso and a spoonful of frothy milk. Mollie decided to go with the classic, Dark Hot Chocolate. While we debated having dessert.. I perused the menu taking note of the dessert and wine pairings.

In the end we decided to each eat some chocolates. I took a gander at the nibbles choosing to go with the Lola, Antoinette and my namesake (with incorrect spelling I might add), the Stacy. Mollie thought she was going to be having the Carrie, Valentina and Rosa but after one sip of her syrup-thick hot chocolate decided to exercise her self control and enjoy just the Carrie. The Lola(lavender) and Stacy (cardamom) were delicious but in my opinion didn't hold a candle to the Antoinette (rosewater and white chocolate). This whole idea of having rosewater infused sweet is a new idea to me but I am a fan for sure. It is weird but in such a good way.

Thank goodness our better judgement kicked in and we decided to enjoy a charming spot like "Chocolate Room" instead of going to a chain like Red Mango. Chocolate Room-we'll be seeing you again.

Sunday Funday at it's best.

Follow two Southern Belle's in their quest to become culinary experts, "foodies" as many like to call it-one NYC restaurant at a time. We don't discriminate so we'll be trying it all: from the cheap eats to mom and pop, and on up to five star - steak, sushi, burgers, pasta, potatoes, eggs, bread, cheese, fish, cookies, cakes, pies, somewhere along the way we might even learn what foie gras is. =) As long as MTA keeps the trains running we'll be chowing down in all five boroughs..Breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner.. We're trying it all and dishing on our dishes.

The only requirements to enjoying this blog are open minds and empty stomachs.

Come hungry. We hope we'll make your mouth water.
